In this project I created the marionette of a character I’ve been developing for quite a while.  Her name is Melody and she is part of a humanoid alien species. I created her dress and legs out of wood and connected them with thin black ropes. I then created her head and arms out of clay and attached them with wire. She is controlled with two long pieces of wood. She is painted with acrylic paints and controlled by two wooden bars.

I decided to incorporate movement with the placement of the strings and the two separate bars. The arrangement of these objects give Melody an almost complete range of motion in her arms and the ability to have walking movements with her legs. With her design elements i decided to use extremely contrasting colors to separate the scales on her face and her hair from the lighter colors on the rest of her body.
